Actually we are the same, I’ve just learn Bullet Journal a few days ago at Akademi Berbagi Makassar’s (AKBER) event. At first I was like you, never heard and see the example of Bullet Journal, and do not know where to start from. I was thinking for they who use Bullet Journal is so useless.
Knowing Bullet Journal at Beginning
Alhamdulillah thanks to AKBER, I would be very helpful. Finally I understand, that create the Bullet Journal was not useless but so helpful. I have a lot of wishes to be achieved but I don’t know how to start, but AKBER finally help me with Bullet Journal workshop so that I can reach my goals easily.
Because I think that is so useful workshop, 2 days after that, I organize a workshop should be held by my community that is Makassar Event. People must know how useful this Bullet Journal. Moreover, this is still the beginning of years. Surely many people have dreams but don’t know from where to start.
Well this workshop was present to realize their all dreams. So they can be more productive and don’t spending a lot of time to do something useless. So, on January 9, 2019 we held a Bullet Journal Workshop with title “How to Make a Bullet Journal”.
Bullet Journal Rules You Need to Know
What you should be know about this Bullet Journal is understanding of the Bullet Journal itself. That is something that can help you to document your whole life, including your plans into one book in a simple, manual and creative.
In other words, the Bullet Journal is a planner and diary that is merged into a single book. I swear, Bullet Journal will reduce the chaos or overwhelmed your experience every day.
Bullet Journal for beginners shouldn’t be difficult because of the tools. Do not get stuck just only because they feel intimidated by the incredibility of the Bullet Journal out there. You just have to have notebooks, pens, colored pencils and a ruler. That is OK.
Trust me! This is not about you have best picture or not. But this is about how good you are to describe your life and your goals in a simple way, then fill them consistently, so it can be realized and your life is much more productive.
7 Section of Bullet Journal in General + Examples
Well now we go into the Bullet Journal section, because by knowing the parts of the Bullet Journal, you will know how to set Bullet Journal especially for beginners. In general, the Bullet Journal consists of 7 parts:
1. Bullet Journal Key
The Bullet Journal Key is a symbol or marker in the Bullet Journal. Do you notice the legend that is on the map? Well the key function in Bullet Journal is the same as the legend on the map, that is as a marker. Here examples:
2. Bullet Journal Index
The Bulet Journal Index is a list of contents in the Bullet Journal. If you make an index, your automatic will be easier to find the page you want in Bullet Journal.
Actually, to use Bullet Journal Index is not so important, because there are some people who consider making an index is important, and consider that does not. So this depends. But for sure, there are certainly advantages gained in creating an index, as you will never say, “Where is it this page?”
If I can advise, if you have optimistic to have a thick Bullet Journal, so make the index.
3. Bullet Journal Future Log
If we discuss Bullet Journal, it will certainly be detached from future Log or set up future. There are so many inspiring Bullet Journal Future logs, but usually many are confused as to what and how to use the Future Log in the best and productive way.
So, this Bullet Journal Future Log is a page where you will add all the monthly and yearly events that are important to one place. This is really simple.
Believe me, by making this you will not forget your important promises or events in the future. Examples of activities that you can fill in this future log such as birthday or anniversary, holiday schedule, a covenant, meeting, etc. Well basically, this part filled by events that will happen in the future.
4. Bullet Journal Monthly Spreads
This Monthly Spread is part of the Bullet Journal where you can easily see the entire month in one simple view. Almost like a future log, but this monthly spread is more detailed you are in filling it, because it is scraped into every month. Here examples:
5. Bullet Journal Weekly Spreads
Weekly Spread is a part of the Bullet Journal most often done by most people, which is scheduling something in a week. Not like monthly spread, in the weekly spread you have many opportunities to add more entries and it is very easy to detailed the things you want to do. Examples:
6. Bullet Journal Daily Spreads
Making Daily spreads could be the most important part of Bullet Journal. But actually, making daily spreads can also be the hardest thing to do if you are still beginners in Bullet Journal. Do not be sad, the important thing if you are optimistic.
This daily Bullet Journal content is a daily task. There are dates, tasks that must be completed for the day, appointments and meetings are important, there is an empty part to write down notes and ideas, until what purpose to accomplish for the day.
7. Other Bullet Journal Collections
Bullet Journal Collections is another entry or page that you can add to the Bullet Journal other than the one I mentioned above. Anyway it is up to your needs. I can love such examples: To Do List, Goals and Step Action to Achieve It, Savings and Finance, Diet and Fitness Tracker, etc.

How to Start Creating Bullet Journal
Now is the time you get started to create your version of Bullet Journal. The trick is to adapt the format above to your needs.
If I personally, because I still learn the result, I only create new cover, mood tracker, goals in the month TSB, monthly spread, grateful tracker, Productivity tracker, daily task and daily habit Tracker, same prayer tracker.
